DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) is back but he's no longer the self-styled "Sheriff of Manchester". Flanked by his faithful sidekicks, DS Ray Carling (Dean Andrews) and DC Chris Skelton (Marshall Lancaster), and drawn to the action and intrigue of the London Met, Gene turns his attentions to taking on the "southern nancy" criminal scum. However, Gene does not expect to be thrown together with sexy, intelligent, DI Alex Drake. Single mother to daughter Molly, Alex has rapidly risen through the ranks of the Met and, in the modern world of 2008, skilfully uses psychological profiling to capture suspects. When Alex and her daughter are kidnapped she makes a daring attempt at escape, resulting in a horrific accident. Alex suddenly finds herself in 1981 interacting with familiar characters, not just from her own life-time, but also from the detailed reports logged by none other than Sam Tyler, which Alex has previously spent months pouring over. Alex is ripped from her current world of sexual equality and respect in 2008 and finds herself opposite an arrogant fellow DCI in a Two Tone, New Romantic Eighties London with a soundtrack of Adam Ant, Roxy Music and The Human League ringing in her ears. Alex finds some of Gene's team has dispersed yet others, loyal as ever, are still in tow. Now a technological whizz-kid in the squad's surveillance team, DC Chris Skelton has clearly moved with the times, along with a tight-permed DS Ray Carling who's keen to experience London's nightlife. (Source: vtm.be)

Sheridan Smith (Cilla, The Widower, Mrs Biggs) stars as Jo Gillespie in riveting thriller Black Work, written by Matt Charman and produced by Mammoth Screen.
When Jo Gillespie's husband Ryan, an undercover policeman, is shot dead in mysterious circumstances, she resolutely sets out to discover who murdered him.
Black Work is a compelling three-part story (x 60), which sees police officer Jo confront difficult truths about her family life and her marriage to Ryan.
Mother to 7-years-old Melly and stepson Hal, Jo is emotionally distraught and heavily conflicted as she unravels the last six months of her husband’s life. She’s grieving and wracked with guilt following an attachment to Ryan’s colleague and fellow police officer Jack Clark, which puts further strain on her grieving family.
Working out of a lock-up on a shadowy case for which no police department will take responsibility, Ryan has been watching a man recently released from prison. But why? And under whose orders?
Writer Matt Charman shed light on his inspiration for the drama:
“Sheridan Smith is a dream to write for because as an actress there’s really nothing she can’t do. And Black Work is a story that pushes her to the limit – it makes her character, Jo Gillespie doubt herself, her family, her friends, everything she’s always taken for granted in her search for her husband's killer.”
Black Work has been commissioned for ITV by Director of Drama Commissioning Steve November and Controller of Drama Victoria Fea.
“We’re delighted to be working with Sheridan Smith again and with the hugely talented Matt Charman” said Steve. “Black Work is a high stakes drama which sees Jo risk everything in search of the truth. It’s a risk she’s prepared to take but it threatens to destroy both her family and career,” he added.

For thousands of years, man lived wild. He made fire, built shelter, and hunted food with his own two hands...but as he got smarter, his waist got bigger. Now, it’s time to get guys off of the couch and into the weather on TWC's "Fat Guys in the Woods" premiering Aug. 10, 10/9c on The Weather Channel. The Weather Channel's Survival Expert, Creek Stewart, will train these men in how to build shelter, start fire and hunt with nothing but their bare hands, and maybe a condom or a gum wrapper. Three men, one week and one objective: to learn the skills that make a man... a man. This show is not about making fun of fat guys. It's about giving regular Joes the chance to do something they've only seen done by Brad Pitt-types. These guys may not have a clue how to survive on their own, but by the end of their week in the woods they'll have the knowledge, and courage, to survive. Creek takes a very simple approach to survival. He says, "Mother Nature breaks us down to our bare essentials. She reminds us of our most basic human needs and she does not have time for our excuses. We’ve lost this understanding. We’ve made everything so complicated. Survival’s simple. Don’t give up... and don’t die.” With that in mind we’ll take three men who love their creature comforts, but believe they have the survival instinct to do without them, and test them against the elements. Creek will take the trio into the woods for a week-long immersion into potentially deadly conditions, and learn who does and doesn't have what it takes. With weather as their enemy, everyone will fight to discover their survival instinct, and learn who they really are. (Source: The Weather Channel)
